“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.” Romans 8:18
There is an old hymn that I love to sing. The chorus goes like this:
“It will be worth it all when we see Jesus.
Life’s trials will seem so small when we see Christ.
One glimpse of His dear face, all sorrow will erase.
So greatly run the race, ’till we see Christ.”
Yes, life is difficult here on earth. But if we have put our trust in Jesus Christ, some day we will share in His glory (1 Peter 5:1). It will be so magnificent, that our current struggles won’t matter an iota!
Paul is essentially saying it is a waste of time and breath to try comparing our sufferings to the glory that we will one day experience. So why do we waste our time and breath even thinking about our trials?
Next time you begin to get overwhelmed by life’ difficulties, remember Christ and the hope He bestows on us. Fix your eyes on Him and continue to press on to know Him more.
