“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again, rejoice!” Philippians 4:4
Notice the Apostle Paul says to rejoice in the Lord. He does not tell us “rejoice in your circumstances”. Secondly, Paul says to rejoice always, not “when you’re having a good day” or “when you feel like it”. No matter what we are facing we can always rejoice in God because He never changes. He is faithful (Lamentations 3:23), good (Psalm 119:68), merciful (Psalm 86:15), and loving (1 John 4:8). In addition to all of this, He has given us eternal life through the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ and daily loads us with benefits (Psalm 68:19, NKJV). If we continually remember His character and His free gifts, rejoicing in Him will come easily, even in the hard times. Let us meditate upon these things and then follow Paul’s exhortation to rejoice in the Lord always.
