“…who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” 2 Corinthians 1:4
Have you ever experienced God’s comfort? If you have, you know it far surpasses any comfort we may receive from even our closest companions. Nobody understands our grief, struggles, or pain the way He does. We don’t have to utter a word to Him- He knows our every thought, our every need, our every longing. And yet, those who are best able to comfort us here on earth are fellow Christians who have also suffered a great deal. Personally, it’s a comfort just to be around other Christians who are chronically ill like myself. Is this a coincidence? Not at all! The verse above explains that the comfort we receive from God equips us to extend comfort to others.
If you have yet to experience comfort from God, ask Him for it. But if He has already given it to you, ask God to show you someone whom you can comfort and encourage this week with the same comfort He has given you.
